Kate and William gave Prince Charles the brush-off

The royal family has previously rejected claims of a feud between Prince Charles and his children, but the latest brush-off involving him and son Prince William could suggest otherwise.

Apparently Prince Charles invited his elder son and wife Kate Middleton for a summer holiday, but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge “declined” the offer.

Meanwhile Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were more open to the idea of spending time with Charles at Scotland’s Castle of Mey, reports Daily Mail.

Father and sons at war?
Earlier this year it was reported by The Daily Beast that William and Harry’s relationship with their father is still very “strained”.

“They are very different people and they just don’t get on. It’s as simple as that,” a source told the publication. “They rarely see each other outside of official business.”

Disagreement over Diana
One point of contention between Charles and his sons is when the pair discuss the emotional and psychological toll of their mother’s death had on them, in a bid to raise awareness about mental health.

The 69-year-old heir to the British throne reportedly “hates” the princes “emoting” their feelings so publicly.

Jealousy in the royal family
Some of the tensions between Charles and his sons also reportedly comes down to jealousy.

Charles felt “usurped” by the Middleton family after his eldest son Prince William married Kate, Tom Bower claimed in his unauthorised royal biography Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion and Defiance of Prince Charles.

“Charles saw Kate and William as the new stars and feared he’d be in trouble,” the chief executive of Charles’ charity foundation in America, Robert Higdon, told the author.

However despite claims of their “strained” relations, when Meghan Markle’s father was not able to make to the royal wedding in May, Charles stepped in to walk her down the aisle.
