KATE, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William have come under fire after footage emerged of the couple and their children boarding a commercial flight as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry face ongoing criticism over using private jets for their holidays.
Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and husband Prince William were spotted boarding a low-cost flight to Aberdeen with their children ahead of their yearly visit to Balmoral, Scotland. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were seen lugging their bags onto the plane with the help of trusted nanny Maria Borallo and children George, Charlotte and Louis in tow. But royal commentator Melanie Bromley questioned their decision to take a commercial flight days after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were revealed to have used private jets to holiday in Europe despite their campaigning for better environmental behaviour.
The chief E! News correspondent said: “They had to get a commercial flight while the whole week has been about Harry and Meghan taking four private jet flights in a week.
“It’s like – come on William and Kate. I get it, they are going to Scotland to spend the summer with the Queen.
“But of all the weeks to be pictured on your commercial flight, your £73 budget airline, it had to be this week?”
Ms Bromley added: “Could you not, just for once, have taken a private jet this week so that Harry and Meghan do not look bad? Isn’t that fascinating?”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been facing growing criticism over the past month due to comments made in Vogue magazine during the Duchess of Sussex’ stint as guest editor.
The couple spoke out about their concerns about the future of the planet, and said they wanted to help promote better environmental standards with their charitable work. But some commentators claimed their decision to speak out put the Royal Family too close to the political sphere.
And earlier this week it was revealed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had used four private jets within one week to holiday in Europe. Meghan and Harry took off for Ibiza to celebrate the Duchess’s 38th birthday and later visited family friend Sir Elton John in Nice, France, with their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
The international superstar spoke out in defence of the royals, saying he had lent them his personal jet and had paid off a contribution to charity CarbonFootprint to offset the impact of the journey.

During an interview with British conservationist Dr Jane Goodall in Vogue, Prince Harry promised they would have a maximum of two children to help save the planet.
And in June Meghan and Harry warned their followers on Instagram that “there is a ticking clock to protect our planet”.
The royal pair added: “We are jeopardising this beautiful place we call home – for ourselves and for future generations. Let’s save it. Let’s do our part.”
Harry also said that “every choice, every footprint, every action makes a difference” to help the environment.

Royal commentator Phil Dampier said: “The contrast between William and Kate and their family travelling on a cheap budget flight to Scotland and Harry and Meghan using private jets couldn’t be starker.
“A cynic might say the Cambridges have done it deliberately, bearing in mind all the recent stories about the two brothers and their wives not getting on.
After all, Meghan told Vogue magazine she didn’t want to be on the cover of the magazine she edited because it would have been boastful knowing full well Kate had been a cover girl.
“And Harry and Meghan made a point of saying they were only having two children to save the planet knowing William and Kate had three.
“Could this be William and Kate hitting back? At the very least they would have known they would have been criticised if they had taken a private jet.”
Harry and Meghan will also be travelling to Balmoral to spend time with the Queen but will make their way to Scotland next month, according to a royal source.
Speaking after Kate and William’s arrival in Aberdeen, an insider said: “Harry and Meghan won’t be going up at the same time as William and the cousins. They plan to go next month.”
