Inside Zara Tindall’s surprisingly close relationship with Prince Charles

ZARA TINDALL is the Queen’s eldest grandchild. She is a famous equestrian and is also celebrating her anniversary today. She married rugby player Mike Tindall nine years ago. But she has a close relationship with another male royal.

Zara Tindall has a surprisingly close relationship with her uncle Prince Charles, 71. She is close to the prince, her mother Princess Anne’s older brother, who is first in line to the British Throne.

Body language expert Judi James told Express.co.uk: “The body language dynamic between Zara and her uncle Charles has been giving joy for many years.”

The pair may seem rather different, with Charles being serious, shyer and more interested in the arts while Zara is confident, relaxed and a sporty type.

Judi said: “If you were to place all the royals on some sliding scale of PDA’s and tactile behaviour in public you’d see Charles close to one end as a rather hands-off, stuffy-looking kind of a guy.

“Zara would sit firmly at the other end as the most spontaneous and gloriously-gregarious-looking royal adult.”

However, this has the effect of helping bring Charles into a more jovial behaviour.

“Put the two together and you might expect Zara to tone her playfully affectionate rituals down with her uncle,” Judi said.

“Instead she seems intent on cutting through any formal stuff by instigating some very dominant-looking hugs that seem to both surprise and delight the Prince.”

Zara can often be seen placing a “dominant” and “empathetic” arm around Charles.

Charles as been seen returning such a gesture with an arm around his nieces waist.

The expert has also claimed in the past that “resentment and jealousies” could have destroyed Princess Anne and Zara’s relationship.

“When a child lives a life a parent craved it can lead to suppressed resentment and jealousies,” the body language expert said.

“But in Anne and Zara’s case the bonds could hardly look closer, probably because Zara’s happy marriage and Olympic excellence means she hasn’t wasted the gift of freedom that her mother gave her.”

Zara and Anne have a lot in common – they both love horses, but like the Queen.

However, Zara did honour her mother on her wedding day in a particular fashion.

Zara Tindall wore the Meander Tiara, loaned to her for the day.

She also for a pair of Princess Anne’s earrings.

The pieces are stunning teardrop shape pendants created from diamonds.

They are similar in style to the Queen’s Diamond Pendant Earrings, but are smaller.

Zara also wore her great-grandmother’s veil on the occasion.

Zara is the first grandchild of Prince Philip and the Queen, who both attended her wedding day.
