The due date of Prince William and Kate ‘s third child has not been made public.

But a huge hint sprung up today outside the maternity ward where the Duchess of Cambridge will give birth.

Parking restrictions have been put in place outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.

The yellow signs cite “Event” as the reason for the suspension, which runs from today until April 30.

Kate’s older two children, George and Charlotte, were both born later than their due dates resulting in what was dubbed the “Great Kate Wait” as journalists, photographers and fans kept a constant presence at the hospital.

As with both previous births, media positions will be clearly marked on the pavement opposite the Lindo Wing doors where Kate and husband William will emerge with their new arrival.

The first the public will hear about the birth is an announcement from Kensington Palace that the Duchess has been admitted to hospital, which will be posted on social media.

A second announcement, issued in the same way, will be sent once the baby has been born, including the sex, time of birth and weight.

This will only be made after William, 35, and Kate, 36, have informed The Queen and other members of their family of their happy news.

After this, a formal signed bulletin will be placed outside Buckingham Palace announcing the news in the traditional way.

William and Kate have not found out if they are having a boy or girl, but bookies are favouring a girl, with Ladbrokes offering odds of 4/5 it will be another little sister for George.

For a girl, the favourite names are Alice, Mary, Victoria and Alexandra, with Albert, Arthur, Frederick and James as the top choices for a boy.

Jessica Bridge, of Ladbrokes, said: “The Royals very rarely deviate away from the core roster of traditional, regal names, but punters are beginning to think that with the heir and the spare already in line to the throne, Kate and William could be a little more adventurous by opting for a modern, popular name such as Amelia or Olivia.”
