How Prince Charles extended a sweet father’s day gesture to son Prince Harry

PRINCE Harry got a special mention in a father’s day message made by the Prince of Wales this past weekend, suggesting a positive relationship between the two royals.

Ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from royal duties earlier this year, there has been speculation surrounding the effect this has had on their ties with other royals.

The relationship between Prince Harry and brother Prince William has been subject to so much probing that a book titled Battle of Brothers by biographer Robert Lacey is due to come out this October.

However, whatever the rumours may be, the royal family appeared to extend warm relations to Prince Harry this past weekend.

The official Instagram page for Clarence House – which documents the life, work, and activities The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall – posted a father’s day message two days ago.

The post read: “Whether you are a father, a Dad, a Daddy or a Pa, wishing you a Happy Father’s Day!”

Along with the written statement, the post included two photos showing paternal relations within the royals.

In one, dated to 1951, a young Prince Charles is shown being carried by his father Prince Philip. The photo was taken at Clarence House itself, and is in vintage black and white.

It also shows Charles’ sister Princess Anne, and the then Princess Elizabeth.
The second photo is much more recent – dated to 2004 at the Cirencester Park Polo Cup.

It shows Charles standing and smiling with his two sons Prince Harry and Prince William; all three looking 15 years younger.

Regardless of what may going on within the Royal Family right now, a father’s day message is a touching gesture.

On father’s day, Clarence House’s official social media pages also sent out a birthday message to Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, on June 21.

In a tweet, Clarence House published a picture of William standing affectionately with his father Prince Charles, hand on shoulder.

The tweet read: “Wishing a very happy birthday to the Duke of Cambridge today!

“This new picture of The Prince of Wales and his son was taken by the Duchess of Cambridge last December”.

Prince William turned 38 on Sunday. The Duke celebrated the occasion in Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where he is spending the coronavirus lockdown with the Duchess of Cambridge and three children.

The Duke of Cambridge was the latest royal to celebrate a birthday after several others in recent weeks.

Both the Queen and Prince Louis celebrated their birthdays in April, for example.

In addition, Princess Charlotte had hers in May, and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, turned 99 earlier this month.

Prince Harry’s birthday is not until September 15 – this year, he will turn 36.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are currently residing in California having stepped down from royal duties this year.

The two are still engaged in charity work, recently penning a letter to youth sports charity StreetGames.

Harry and Meghan wrote that they “wanted to write and express our heartfelt thanks to the team at StreetGames following their support delivering Hubb Community Kitchen meals throughout London”.
