MEGHAN MARKLE has continued working alongside animal welfare charity, Mayhew, one of her royal patronages, despite stepping down as a senior royal family member according to reports.
During the recent coronavirus pandemic, the charity has fallen into financial difficulty, and the Duchess has stepped in to assist Mayhew throughout. Meghan is a passionate animal rights advocate and has long campaigned on related issues.
Sarah Hastelow told Newsweek: “She’s been such a champion of animals and animal welfare. It’s always been a passion of hers.”
She added that Meghan had “been in touch” during the lockdown, and “couldn’t say more than that”.
A separate source from the Sussexes team revealed: “The Duchess is in touch and working with Mayhew at this time.”
They also stressed that the organisation is more than just a “classic animal charity” as it was helping those “in the community” during the current economic crisis.

On their website, the charity has asked for donations to help their animals.
It said: “We desperately need extra funds to buy supplies of food, litter, flea and worm treatment as our suppliers are running low.”
The charity is separate from an ordinary animal charity, as it assists the homeless who have pets and may struggle for supplies.
As the pandemic has seen many restricted from group gatherings, the organisation’s fundraising events have been cancelled.
