MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry flew economy class to Nice last year and even opted to sit near the toilets, unearthed reports claim.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been at the centre of huge controversy this week, as it emerged the couple took four private jets in just 11 days. The royals travelled with their 6-month-old baby son, Archie Harrison, first to Ibiza to celebrate Meghan’s 38th birthday and then to Nice, where they stayed at Sir Elton John’s house. Critics argue that the couple’s actions contradict their public stance on climate change, given aviation is one of the world’s major polluters and responsible for more than two percent of global emissions.
At the beginning of August, Prince Harry said he plans to have two children “maximum” in order to save the planet, during a conversation with activist Jane Goodall in an edition of British Vogue guest-edited by Meghan.
He also spoke about the “terrifying” effects of climate change.
On Monday, Sir Elton defended the royals, revealing he had paid for them and their son, Archie, to “maintain a high level of much-needed protection”.
It is possible that the Sussex’s opted for the more polluting way of travel as a way of protecting baby Archie from the public, as only the year before, the two had travelled to the same destination but with a commercial flight.

According to a 2017 report by the Daily Express, Meghan and Harry ditched the high life and not only flew economy to the South of France, but also opted for seats near the toilets.
The former Hollywood actress reportedly sat in the middle seat while Harry sported a baseball cap.
According to British Airways’ website, its flights feature four classes – economy, premium economy, business/club and first, although flights to Nice only feature two options, economy and business/club.
Typically, the price of the latter is slightly more than triple that of the former, with the most expensive, Saturday morning shuttle costing £323 per person.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have also been recently spotted flying economy.

It is not the first time the Cambridges have flown economy.

Harry reportedly headed back from the occasion with Ryanair.
