Meghan Markle has BLUE BLOOD: Actress descended from Scottish king and ‘related’ to Harry

MEGHAN Markle is a blood relative of legendary Scottish king Robert the Bruce and could be distantly related to her future husband Prince Harry, a royal biographer has claimed in the run up to the Royal Wedding.

Suits star Meghan Markle has blue blood running through her veins, said author Andrew Morton in his new book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.

The royal bride-to-be can trace her family back to Robert the Bruce, one of Scotland’s most important heroes, who famously gained independence from England by winning the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314 after seizing the Scottish crown in 1307.

His military victories made him a national hero before he died in 1329.

Mr Morton said in a serialisation published in The Sun: “It is possible to trace a direct line through 25 generations to Robert I of Scotland, perhaps the most colourful of all Scottish kings.

“It is the lineage of Meghan’s gran that can be traced directly to the Scottish royals and more.

“Through her ancestor Roger Shaw, Meghan’s trickle of blue blood was transported to America.”

He added: “The son of a wine merchant in the City of London, Shaw sailed from Plymouth to Massachusetts around 1637.

“Through Shaw’s family, who originated from Yorkshire, we find the link to royalty.

“It was the marriage in 1490 of James Shaw to Christina Bruce, the daughter of Sir David Bruce, 6th Baron of Clackmannan, a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce, that sealed the royal connection.”

The author also warned that Meghan is “distantly related to most European royal families thanks to her English kinswoman Margaret Kerdeston, who lived in the 15th century.”

As marriages between royal families were a common thing in the past, this could mean that Prince Harry and Meghan, who are set to tie the knot on May 19, could be very distantly related to the fifth in line to the throne of Great Britain.

In his extraordinary account unveiling Meghan’s life before she came under the royal spotlight, Mr Morton has also claimed that Meghan ended her first marriage with Trevor Engleson by sending “her diamond wedding and engagement rings back by registered mail”.

She also took her kitchen blender from the house she was sharing with Mr Engleson.

Mr Morton said: “She packed the blender into the backseat of her car even though it would have been just as easy to buy a new one.

“It sat on the kitchen counter of her Toronto house, a material reminder that her home was no longer in Los Angeles.”

Meghan married film producer Mr Engelson in 2011.

The relationship ended two years later, in 2013.
