Prince William is not the only male royal to choose not to wear an engagement ring.
Prince Philip, the Queen’s loyal husband, does not wear a wedding ring either.
However, Prince Charles does wear an engagement ring after his wedding to Camilla Parker-Bowles in 2005.
Kate and Prince William married in 2011 at Westminster Abbey while their families and the rest of the nation watched on.
Kate was given a sapphire and diamond engagement ring by William when he proposed, which was initially given to Princess Diana by his father Prince Charles.
Kate still proudly wears the beautiful piece of jewellery and her wedding ring, but Prince William does not wear his.
Many modern couples choose not to wear rings at all.
So, why has William decided to ditch his ring?
Palace aides told the Daily Mail before the wedding: “It was something the couple discussed but Prince William isn’t one for jewellery — he doesn’t even wear a signet ring — and decided he didn’t want to.”
“It really is just down to personal preference.”
In fact, Kate did not give William a ring during the ceremony.
