BAFTAs 2017: Duchess of Cambridge stuns alongside Hollywood’s best dressed stars
The Duchess of Cambridge embraced Hollywood glamour to celebrate the best of British film in a departure from her usual classic style.
Kate, 35, wore a stunning off-the-shoulder Alexander McQueen black gown covered in a delicate floral pattern boasting a drop-waist style.
She wore her hair twisted into a chic up-do, which allowed her to show off her diamond and ruby earrings.
She and Prince William were the last to arrive on the red carpet.
William, 34, was there in his role as Bafta president.
And stars refused to let the cold stop them looking their best, with plunging temperatures matched by plunging necklines.
Nicole Kidman, 49, looked glamorous in a daring low-cut backless sequined bodice gown.
But she admitted her daughters Sunday, eight, and six-year-old Faith, were not fans of her outfit.
She said: “If they’d had their say I wouldn’t have been allowed out in it because it’s low cut.
“They would have gone, ‘No mum. That’s a rude dress’. They like me more in dresses that make me look like a fairy or a princess.”
British star Thandie Newton, 44, risked a plunging black strapless gown as she was joined on the red carpet by her husband Oli Parker, 56.
La La Land star Emma Stone, 28, wore a stunning plunging silver dress, teaming the twinkly gown with matching trousers underneath.
Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner, 20, turned heads in a low-cut Louis Vuitton high-slit dress.
Classic black was rare with Meryl Streep one of the few to opt for the colour.
As she arrived she blew kisses to the crowd, wearing a black military-style jacket over a black lace camisole, matched with black trousers.
Streep, 67, arrived just a day after she reignited her row with US President Donald Trump.
She had said there were times when she wished she could stay home “and load the dishwasher” rather than speak out – but “the weight of all these honours” she had received had led her to do so.
