MEGHAN MARKLE’S Wimbledon appearance with two of her closest university friends was a “subtle” hint as to who she had selected to be baby Archie’s godparents.
Meghan Markle, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, confirmed this week their firstborn will be christened at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor on July 6, two months after his birth. But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have kept tight-lipped about who has been selected to be baby Archie Harrison’s godparents.
One of those is certainly one of the godparents
Royal historian Anna Whitelock believes Meghan had used the appearance with pals Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis at Wimbledon last week to make a “subtle” hint as to who Archie’s godparents are.
Meghan is close pals with tennis star Serena Williams and last week stepped out with her university friends to watch the fellow American play at Wimbledon tennis tournament, just days before the christening.
Ms Whitelock told Yahoo’s Royal Box: “I think Wimbledon always is very much a very public platform to make a perhaps subtle or less than subtle statements.
“I mean, the fact that she is there alongside those particular friends do suggest a closeness.

“Everybody knows it is the time of the Christening. So I think she is in a sense saying something actually appearing at Wimbledon with them.”
Ms Whitelock said she believes Meghan was aware she would be pictured at Wimbledon with her friends.
The royal historian added: “I think she knows she is going to be pictures with them and therefore she knows around the time of the christening we are going to go ‘well who are her likely godparents?’.”
But Royal expert Omid Scobie said he has heard from sources that Meghan had chosen either Genevieve or Lindsay to be godparents.

Mr Scobie said: “They are really including friends from the past, you know, with Meghan as we will see, she had her friends Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis at the christening and one of those is certainly one of the godparents
“We don’t hear as much about Genevieve and Lindsay as some of Meghan’s more high profile friends. But I think they are two women that like to stay ore behind the scenes.”
Meghan stepped out for the first time at a public event with baby Archie on Wednesday as Prince Harry joined his brother William for a charity polo match.
The Sussexes and Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, were out with their children for the first time as they attended the event.

The King Power Royal Charity Polo Day was held in honour of late Leicester City Football Club owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.
The two family’s shut down rumours of an alleged rift as they attended the polo match.
The funds raised will support charities supported by both princes.
The charity game at the Billingbear Polo Club was Harry and William’s first joint event this year.
