FANS have blasted Camilla on social media after she was spotted merely wearing a glamorous brooch once worn by Princess Diana last night.
“The Duchess of hearts strikes again”
The Duchess of Cornwall, 71, wore the emerald and diamond brooch, at her husband Prince Charles’s party celebrating his 50th anniversary as the Prince of Wales.
She matched the 150-year-old heirloom with her dark green dress when she was spotted at Buckingham Palace.
Charles’s former wife Princess Diana famously wore the brooch in Austria, matching it with a pair of emerald earring.
The stunning piece of jewellery is made of a teardrop emerald pendant, which dangles from an oval of diamonds with a three-feathered Prince of Wales insignia inside.
It first entered into the British Royal Family when it was presented as a wedding gift to Princess Alexandra of Denmark in 1863 when she married King Edward VII – then Prince of Wales.
The heirloom was passed down through the generations before it was handed down to Diana on her marriage to Prince Charles in 1981 by the Queen Mother.
Diana fans took to social media to voice their outrage over Camilla’s decision to wear the brooch.
One said: “Poor Princess Diana, can’t even rest for eternity without Duchess Camilla trying to paw one off.”
Another added: “The Duchess of hearts strikes again.”
The brooch will have been returned to Kensington Palace following her death in 1997.
Charles celebrated the achievements of Welsh charities, businesses and organisations during Tuesday’s event.
The Prince of Wales wed Camilla back in 2005, after being in a relationship for several years.
Camilla became infamous across the UK when Princess Diana referred to her during an interview about her marriage to Charles.
The shocking 1995 interview rocked Kensington Palace when the beloved princess spoke candidly about Charles’s affair.
She and Charles separated in 1992 but the damage and nature of their separation led to divorce in 1996.
