Has Prince Harry proposed to Meghan Markle? Friends say holidaying couple are ENGAGED

PRINCE HARRY and Meghan Markle might already be engaged, after claims he has popped the question on their holiday in Africa.

Rumours have been swirling that Prince Harry might propose to his girlfriend on their romantic holiday.

The couple jetted off to Africa to celebrate Meghan’s 36th birthday.

Now friends of the pair have claimed the engagement is official.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday Prince Harry, 32, popped the question to the Suits actress while the couple were camping in the Botswana bush.

They said the helicopter pilot prince flew Meghan Markle out to the top secret site before proposing under the stars.

Rather than a ring, Harry reportedly chose Zulu betrothal bracelets, an updated version of those currently worn by the couple as a symbol of love.

The source said: “The world is watching, so the royal red tape needs to be adhered to.

“Meghan won’t be landing at Heathrow with a giant rock on her finger.

“Harry’s told his friends he’s hoping to make the official announcement in September.

“The setting and the bracelets were just so special to Harry.

“He has always felt close to Diana in Africa and it was she who taught him about the meaning of the tribal beads as she spent so much time there.

“Harry feels like he can be himself in Africa and the whole proposal was the private, free and expressive moment he had hoped for – made all the more so by keeping it as ‘their secret’ for a few weeks.”

Harry described Africa as one of the most important places in the world to him earlier this year, and said: “I first came in 1997, straight after my mum died.

“My dad told my brother and me we were going to Africa to get away from it all.

“This is where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world. I have this intense sense of complete relaxation and normality here.”

Prince William also chose the destination for his own proposal to Kate Middleton.

The couple got engaged in Kenya in October 2010.
