KATE, DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE was revealed to have presented Prince Harry with a rather cheeky Christmas gift before his wedding to Meghan Markle.

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge admitted to feeling “worried” about her first Christmas at Sandringham with the Royal Family but the Duchess of Cambridge was quick to catch on with their traditions. The Queen is known to be adamant presents should be on the jokey side and Kate once teased Prince Harry with her cheeky present pick. Royals podcast contributor Angela Mollard said: “They are quite light-hearted around presents.

“They don’t give a nice linen set or anything like that, it’s all like presents.

“So one year Kate gave Prince Harry, before he got married, a blow-up your own girlfriend kit – no, a make your own girlfriend kit.”

Kate and Harry have been known to have had quite a close relationship since she first began dating Prince William in 2003, with the now-Duchess of Cambridge spending a fair amount of time with the royal before officially joining the family.

But the future Queen once admitted the prospect of spending her first Christmas at Sandringham sent her into a bit of a panic when it came to finding a present for Her Majesty.

Ms Mollard continued: “She was really worried about what she was going to give the Queen the first year she went to Sandringham and Kate made her own chutney from a family recipe.

“And she said she was delighted to see the chutney on Christmas morning in a little bowl on the table.”

Kate and Prince William are expected to join the monarch for part of the holidays at her Sandringham retreat, escorting the Queen to Christmas Mass on Wednesday.

Other senior royals are set to also show up at the Norfolk estate as the residence has become a favourite among Royal Family members to spend time together at Christmas time.

Prince Philip is believed to have headed back to Sandringham after having spent three days in a London hospital to monitor a “pre-existing condition.”

The Duke of Edinburgh, 98, was spotted leaving King Edward VII hospital in central London on Christmas Eve as he walked unaided to his car.

Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle will however not join the Queen and the rest of the Royal Family as a spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed last week they will be spending Christmas in Canada.

The couple have been on a six-week break from royal duties with their son Archie Harrison.

The last time the public saw the Duchess of Sussex in public was at the Remembrance Sunday event at the Cenotaph in November.

Earlier this year, the Sussex couple revealed they intended to spend the festive season away from the Royal Family.

The couple announced they would be taking six-weeks off beginning from Thanksgiving, which the Sussex family spent in the United States until the New Year.

Harry and Meghan are believed to have spent Thanksgiving with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland in the USA, but then travelled to Canada where they will spend Christmas, with Doria flying up to join them.

Prince Harry’s grandmother, the Queen, is said to be supportive of the Sussexes’ plan to take a long break and not join the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham on Christmas Day.
