CAMILLA, Duchess of Cornwall, jokingly threatened to steal an anti-stress toy this during a visit to a charity close to her heart.

Camilla appeared in high spirits this morning as she visited Barnardo’s Child and Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Services. The Duchess, who has been the President of Barnardo’s since 2007, met some of the people helped by the association during the engagement. And Camilla was happy to joke with one girl who showed her a squishy fiddle toy she uses to fend off anxiety. The Duchess seemed very taken with it and, joking, she suggested she may need the anti-stress toy so much she could steal it form her. Camilla told the girl: “You’d better take it back otherwise I may steal it!” During the visit, the Duchess of Cornwall also had a portrait done by four girls at the charity.

The speed-drawing exercise is used by experts at Barnardo’s as an ice-breaker for groups who never met before. To visit the north London charity today, Camilla wrapped herself up into a stylish blue wool coat, paired knee-high black suede boots and black leather gloves.

Camilla showed her support and admiration for the work done by Barnardo’s not just by listening to staff and people at the association but also by pinning on her lapel the charity’s green badge. Barnardo’s is a charity loved by the royals – while Camilla is its President, Queen Elizabeth II is one of its patrons

The Duchess of Cornwall’s latest engagement took place just hours after she attended the annual Royal Dinner thrown for the British Asian Trust, founded by Prince Charles and British Asian business leaders in 2007. Standing by the side of Prince Charles, Camilla celebrated the work of the Trust and its new push towards ending child labour in South Asia. During the evening, Prince Charles announced the new ambassador of the Trust – US singer Katy Perry. This news was not welcomed by many social media users, with one claiming it was “insulting” towards British Asian.

She said: “My work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador has taken me to many parts of the world and opened my eyes to the many vulnerabilities of children. “India has long held a special place in my heart, and on my last visit, I was able to meet with The Prince of Wales and other leaders in Mumbai, and I was impressed by their strong plan – from on-ground initiatives to fundraising – that will aim to cut child trafficking in half. “That is why I am especially honoured to be named an ambassador for the British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund, and to help shine my light on the work that the British Asian Trust will be doing in South Asia, and to be a part of finding solutions to child trafficking. “Children are vulnerable and innocent and have to be protected.” Source: EXPRESS CO UK
