Charles offers support to flood victims
Eglinton residents were delighted to welcome a royal visitor to their village last week when Prince Charles visited the North West last Friday to meet with those affected by the severe flooding in August.
His visit began by meeting the crowds outside Eglinton Community Hall who had gathered to see the next monarch. Prince Charles took time from his busy schedule to shake hands and speak with those in attendance.
His Royal Highness had cleared his schedule to visit the area after hearing some homes and businesses were still waiting for repair work. He also met with local farmers who spoke of the hardships they had endured since the flooding.
During his visit, Prince Charles gave assurances that he would personally get in touch with insurance companies on their behalf.
Local shop owner, Paul Miller stated: “Insurance companies have walked away from us and they seem to be getting away with it. The Prince said he knows just the person to ring and he’ll look into it for us.”
