Camilla reveals she watched Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding highlights on TV
CAMILLA, Duchess of Cornwall, revealed she watched the highlights of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding in Windsor on the TV.
Speaking on Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, Camilla referred to the moment her 69-year-old husband walked the American down the aisle. Prince Harry captured the hearts of the nation when he whispered ‘Thank you Pa’ to his father at the altar. And Charles was praised for holding Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland’s hand as they walked to sign the register. Camilla said: “I think that was very touching sitting where I was you couldn’t hear what he said but watching it afterwards on the television
“I think it was a very it was a lovely gesture.
“A lot of people seeing my husband take the bride’s mother by the hand to sign the registry, it’s something that moves everybody.
She added: “It’s the things he does behind the scenes that people don’t know about. I don’t think people really quite how kind he is.”
Camilla attended Prince Harry’s nuptials to the former Suits actress in May.
In the BBC documentary, Harry also spoke candidly about the moment he asked his father to take the place of Meghan’s own father, Thomas Markle, after the 74-year-old pulled out of the wedding at the last minute.
Prince Harry said: “I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming and he immediately said, ‘yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you.
“For him that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support. And you know he’s our father so of course he’s going to be there for us.”
The prince added he was “very grateful” for his father’s help.
Harry said: “I’ve been brought up well. You’ve gotta say thank you. Just because he’s my father that doesn’t mean I can just sort of go, ‘okay, that’s all, I’ll take it from here’.
“Though that is what I wanted to say. But I was very grateful for him to be able to do that.”
