Princess Charlotte starts nursery as Buckingham Palace reveals its back to school kit

Princess Charlotte’s nursery school began its term yesterday – and on the same day Buckingham Palace’s shop promoted gifts fit for a princess.

A fancy dress crown, books and a Guardsman teddy bear are just some of the delightful presents parents can buy for their children going back to school.

Buckingham Palace Shop released its charming Back to School collection on the same day two-year-old Princess Charlotte was initially reported to have started at Willcocks Nursery in Kensington.

By coincidence, marketing material even have its own section for a child’s “first day of nursery”, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Buckingham Palace Shop writes on its advertising material: “Tuck these charming gifts into backpacks, as you wave off the little ones to their first day at nursery.”

Kate and William will take their daughter to the £14,550-a-year Kensington nursery, close to the family’ London home ,this month.

The 53-year-old school was founded in 1964 by Mrs Diana Willcocks in the hall of Holy Trinity Church in South Kensington, right next door to the Royal Albert Hall.

Today it is run by Headmistress Lavinia Taylor for an annual fee of £14,550 – without the weekly lunch club.

The nursery prides itself on maintaining “an ethos of hight standards, excellence and good manners”, according to its website.

In the bag, the mini crown, described as a “fabulous dress up crown, gold and shining with red velvet and soft fake fur trim”, is for sale at a price of £8.95.

While children can get their hands on an adorable Guardsman teddy bear, waring a red jacket and faux bearskin hat for £17.95.

Customers were told: “Whether they’re a toddler starting nursery, a little one heading back to school, or a college student, we have luxury stationery essentials for everyone.

“Fill their satchel with leather journals, colourful notebooks and other accessories inspired by the royal palaces, to set the benchmark for excellence.”

The shop also boasts a back-to-school range of stationary inspired by Buckingham Palace, Holyrood Palace and Windsor Castle, including a corgi pencil set and a crown-shaped pad of sticky notes.
