KATE, DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE, has been enjoying dancing with children as she unveils a garden at the RHS Garden Wisley.

Kate showed off her mothering and fun side as she danced away with children at the garden launch today. The Duchess planted a blue cedar tree at RHS Garden Wisley’s new space where families can play, discover and relax. The modern garden will have a ‘bouncing forest’, where visitors will be able to jump on trampolines surrendered by trees and enjoy a living willow pod. The Royal Horticultural Society worked on the design of the garden with Kate and Davies White Landscape Architects.

It has been the most amazing experience and I can’t thank the RHS enough for giving me this wonderful opportunity

Speaking at the festival the Duchess said: “The Back to Nature festival is a fitting finale to a project I have been thrilled to be part of.”

She said: “It has been the most amazing experience and I can’t thank the RHS enough for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

“I hope that it will enabel thousands of children to discover and explore the natural world around them.”

Children will also be able to explore new features including a treehouse and a hedgehog-inspired shape.

Wisley is located in Surrey and is one of five gardens run by the Royal Horticultural Society.

Sue Biggs, RHS Director General, says: “RHS Garden Wisley is our flagship garden, welcoming over a million visitors a year, many of whom are families with young children, who we want to become the next generation of gardeners.

“How magical for these children to play somewhere that has been inspired by gardens co-designed by The Duchess.

“We are grateful to The Duchess for the incredible impact that this ‘Back to Nature’ collaboration has had.

“There is no doubt that this project, through her passion and vision, has highlighted that access to natural environments and green spaces isn’t just a nice to have, it’s vital to have. This is something that the RHS also strongly believes in and will continue to champion through our Greening Great Britain Campaign and charitable work.”

The Back to Nature Garden at RHS Garden Wisley has been designed by Landscape Architects Davies White with the support and input of the RHS’ Horticultural Teams. The garden was built by contractors Gerald Davies.

The Back to Nature Garden at RHS Garden Wisley will be a permanent, much loved, feature in one of the world’s most famous gardens, for children and families to play in and enjoy. A wonderful gift for the future generations who visit Wisley and a sure way to encourage families and friends to get outside in a natural environment and have a great day out.

The Duchess is known for being a keen gardner and always encouraging her children to enjoy being outside in nature.
