Bond between Prince Charles and Meghan forged in adversity – they both have SAME problem
Meghan Markle has forged a strong bond with her father-in-law Prince Charles due to both of them coming from families with their fair share of problems, it has been claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex is said to have impressed Charles with how well she has handled outbursts from her father and siblings, remaining poised and putting on a brave face at all times.
According to the Mail on Sunday, a source close to the royals said the Prince, who also comes from a family that has weathered many scandals down through the years, credits Meghan’s Hollywood training for giving her a thick skin.
A source in Charles’ inner circle is quoted as saying: “Because there’s been bad behaviour that’s caused problems in his family, Charles understands how difficult it must be for Meghan. And it has endeared her to him even more.”
Another source said: “Whatever they felt inside, they’ve both put on a strong public face and not hidden away.”
The American beauty, who is expecting her first child with Prince Harry, has reportedly not spoken to her father Thomas Markle in months and refused to tell him about her pregnancy.
After Mr Markle, 74, was caught up in a media storm when he made a secret deal with paparazzi in the run up to the royal wedding in May, he pulled out of his father-of-the-bride duties leaving Charles to step in.
The Prince was said to be more than happy to walk his new daughter-in-law down the aisle at the wedding in May.
During the months that followed, Mr Markle gave a series of explosive TV interview, in which he revealed details of private conversations he had had with Prince Harry and even discussed Harry’s political views.
The public outbursts would have been a thorn in Meghan’s side as members of the Royal family are not supposed to express their political opinions in public and must be seen as neutral.
Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, has previously blasted her for not inviting the family to her Windsor wedding while half-brother Thomas Markle Jr wrote an open letter to Prince Harry calling the nuptials the “biggest mistake in royal wedding history”.
Last week, Prince Harry and Meghan completed their first overseas tour which saw them visit Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the kingdom of Tonga.
The Duchess of Sussex made her first speech of the tour when she spoke to college students in Fiji about the value of education and reminisced about her own college days.
Charles is said to be pleased with how well his daughter-in-law has fitted into royal life, taking her duties in her stride and adapting with east to British culture.
The Duchess is also said to have bonded with Camilla and one source even went as far to say that Meghan had brought Harry and Charles closer.
