Meghan Markle has reportedly had some difficulties adjusting to life as a royal since marrying Prince Harry back in May. One of the aspects Meghan is struggling with the most is the wardrobe restrictions put in place by Queen Elizabeth.

While planning her wardrobe for her upcoming tour of Australia with Price Harry, Meghan wanted to wear a Stella McCartney tuxedo-style suit to an evening event. Prince Harry, however, nixed the idea as the queen prefers women to wear skirts instead of pants.

The red-headed prince reportedly told his new wife that she needed to stop dressing like a Hollywood actress and start dressing like a royal.

Meghan, 37, has chosen to remain silent since the very public fallout with her father Thomas Markle. He and the ex-Suits actress have not spoken since her May 19 wedding, after he staged pictures with a paparazzo, for which he was allegedly paid a large fee.

He then apparently had a heart attack and pulled out of the wedding, leading to Prince Charles walking Meghan down the aisle and her mum being the only representative of her family by her side.

In the interview to The Sun, Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan Markle, believes his daughter’s smile hides her pain because of the Royal Family pressure.

“My thing about my daughter right now is that I think she is terrified. I see it in her eyes, I see it in her face and I see it in her smile. I’ve seen her smile for years. I know her smile. I don’t like the one I’m seeing now,” he says.

“This one isn’t even a stage smile – this is a pained smile. That might be just having a couple of bad days. I don’t know. It really worries me. I think she’s under too much pressure. There’s a high price to pay to be married to that family,” he added.

Interest in the royals, and in particular in the newly wedded Meghan and Harry, has reached fever pitch, and earlier this month, royal writer Katie Nicholl reported that Prince Harry is concerned over the media’s obsession with their lives. “[Harry] worries there is too much hysteria around Meghan and he wants to row back a bit,” a source reveals in Nicholl’s story for Vanity Fair.

The couple has been out of sight in recent weeks, but that wasn’t entirely unexpected. Traditionally, August is a slow news period for the royals as the Queen takes her annual trip to Balmoral in Scotland. What will be interesting to see is if the Sussexes continue to eschew the spotlight next month as they return to a regular schedule of appearances and engagements.
