MEGHAN Markle is struggling with constraints of royal life, feeling fed-up and frustrated over not having a voice, an insider has claim amid reports of an alleged rift between the Duchess of Sussex and her sister-in-law Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.
For a few months there have been rumours of rising tensions between Meghan and Kate. And now sources have said Meghan is “fed-up” of not being able to “stand up for herself” as royal protocol forces her to keep quiet amidst the claims of a feud between her and Kate. The insider told Us Weekly pregnant Meghan finds the constraints of royal life “debilitating”.
Before her engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan was an outspoken feminist, giving speeches at United Nations forums and detailing her daily events on Instagram and her now defunct blog The Tig.
As part of her transition into royal life, Meghan has shut down all her social media accounts.
The royal insider added: “She’s always been so independent, her entire life, and thats all been taken away from her. She’s been able to clap back on social media and now she can’t.”
Rumours began to spur when news came about that Harry and Meghan were moving.
Harry and Meghan are currently neighbours to William and Kate at Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace.
In the Spring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to move to Frogmore Cottage on the ground of Windsor Castle before the arrival of their first child.
This sparked rumours that Kate and William disliked Meghan despite sources assuring the public the move was for privacy.
Other rumours included Meghan supposedly making Kate cry at a fitting for bridesmaid’s dresses as well as clashes over staff.
This week Meghan came under fire for breaking royal protocol on Monday night when she wore black nail varnish at the British Fashion Awards.
Dark nail polish does not suit royal rules as it is deemed “vulgar” based on the Queen’s personal preference.
Female royals tend to opt for neutral shades on their nails.
According to Meghan’s father Thomas Markle, Meghan likes to “bend the rules.”
On previous occasions the Queen is thought to have disagreed with Meghan’s fashion choices.
At a royal visit to Runcorn in Cheshire, Meghan was thought to have irritated the Queen by not wearing a hat.
There was further concern in August when Meghan wore a dress to the musical show Hamilton which was slightly above the knee.
This breaks royal protocol and according to the Mail on Sunday Meghan was advised to dress more traditionally at certain events.
