A Cambridge Christmas! Kate and William take George and Charlotte ice-skating and visit Santa during a festive day out (but all is not what it seems)
Images appear to show royal couple, 35, enjoying festive day out with children
Charlotte went on the carousel with Kate while George enjoyed the ice rink
Spoof images use lookalikes to imagine the family day out
Couple to spend Christmas Day at Sandringham and will host Harry and Meghan
They may be busy preparing for a royal Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham, but the Cambridge family has found the time for some more down-to-earth festive traditions.
Images show William and pregnant Kate, both 35, enjoying a day out with Princess Charlotte, two, and Prince George, four, at a winter fairground, taking in a visit to Santa and a turn on the ice rink.
But while these might seem like unusually candid snaps of normally private family, it turns out they’re a clever spoof imagining what kind of activities the Duke and Duchess might be getting up to with their children in the run up to Christmas.
One snap shows ‘Prince George’ wearing the grey coat he donned for church last Christmas taking a spin in a wooden car, while Charlotte enjoyed a spin on the carousel with her mother.
It’s certainly set to be a busy festive period for the real Cambridge family who will reportedly be hosting Harry and his fiancée Meghan, as well as attending the Queen’s celebrations at Sandringham after missing out last year.
Us Weekly has reported that the couple will welcome Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk during the festive period.
The magazine claims Harry and Meghan will spend Christmas Eve with the Queen at Sandringham, before joining William and Kate.
A source told Us Weekly: ‘They’ll be William and Kate’s guests and travel back and forth with them.’
The magazine reports that the two couples will enjoy breakfast together on Christmas morning before attending the 11am church service at St. Mary Magdalene.
After a turkey dinner made up of three birds – one of which will be taken to the nursery for Charlotte and George – the royals will watch the Queen’s Speech at 3pm.
The source adds: ‘In this year’s address, she (the Queen) will congratulate Harry and Meghan.’
The source also reports that Meghan is expected to stay home with Kate, who is expecting her third child, on Boxing Day while the remainder of the family join Prince Philip on his traditional Boxing Day pheasant shoot.
Despite not yet being married to Harry, Meghan has secured an invite to spend Christmas Day at Sandringham.
It represents something of a break with tradition, as Kate was not at Sandringham on Christmas Day in 2010, despite the fact her engagement to Prince William had been announced to the world a month before.
The couple got engaged on November 27 and a few days later a proud Harry introduced his bride-to-be to the nation during a series of official events in Nottingham. The are set to marry in May in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Buckingham Palace has said the Queen and other members of the royal family will join the congregation for the morning service at St Mary Magdalene Church on December 25.
